The club

Built by enthusiasts, open to everyone.

Created in 2014, we are a group of creative people, designers, and enthusiasts in Rangiora, North Canterbury. The clubrooms are spacious enough for a variety of railway layouts, kitset modelling, and the conversations that happen between trains.

Members build and run model railways, share tools and skills, and get together for community and a laugh. Bring your own trains, or come and discover the hobby with us.

What we do

Our members build and create model railways. We share resources and skills, then run trains together. You do not need a layout at home to join in.

Skills you can learn

Working in miniature uses real skills: scenery and architectural modelling, soldering and wiring, and digital programming with tools such as Arduino.

Part of the community

We share the hobby with members, families, and the public. You will find us at model shows and community events around North Canterbury.

Models and layouts

The hobby is still hugely popular, and it offers many different skills and learning experiences. Run a train, scenic a corner, or help finish a layout.

Electrical and digital

3D printers, DCC digital control, special effects, wiring, soldering, and programming with Arduino are all part of the process. Getting involved builds skills for every age.

Layouts mimic real places. Landscapes, buildings, vehicles, and countless small details suit anyone who likes to construct and to look closely.

Learn by making

From a first wiring job to a finished station, members teach one another. It is practical, social, and surprisingly absorbing — whether you are ten or seventy.
